Giving birth far away from home and family can feel lonely and terrifying but her very special brand of care and attention goes a long way to making it better. Karen offers straightforward, honest and gentle support. She does not pressure or judge but rather gives you all the information you need and then encourages you to listen to your own guiding instincts.

Karen was invaluable to be before, during and after the birth of my first baby. I appreciated her warm nature, years of midwifery experience, sense of humor and fear-free approach. I have had two lovely water births- something I hadn’t even considered before meeting her.

.What hesitations did you have about working with me or doing any of my classes?
The only hesitation we had was entering a room of strangers not knowing what to expect. Once we entered and met you and the rest of the group we soon felt comfortable and realised we were all there for the same reason. You made us feel very relaxed and welcomed.
2. What results have you achieved since we started working together?
Well I am pleased to say Roisin is now sitting up in the bath and I don’t shake each time I hold her over the water. All thanks to your home visit. When my mother visited of course she watched my every move and I just repeated the same line “this is how Karen showed us to do it” !! When facing you with my experience of breast feeding you were very understanding and gave me the opportunity to either try again with your support or use formula. You were the only professional who did not judge me for my decision and for that I will be forever grateful.
3. What did you like best about working with me?
I loved how relaxed and informative the classes were. You helped us to understand that even with a birthing plan things don’t always go to plan. We actually decided then not to have one and just let nature take its course but in an informed way. We did however practice all the techniques you discussed with us and I clearly remember Ronan correcting my breathing during labour. Let’s just say he didn’t try a second time . By following the techniques that we learned in the classes we actually had a very positive birthing experience even with the c- section.
4. How else have you benefited from our work together?
I feel that we have built a relationship of trust with you and I would never hesitate to pick up the phone and call you if I felt unsure about something. Especially in the early months when babies are so delicate and you feel like you don’t know what you are doing. It is nice to have that support there.
5. Would you recommend me and my services? If so, why and to whom?
I have recommended you to all of our friends who are planning pregnancies and who are also in the early stages of pregnancy. I fell the service you offer is invaluable especially in the Middle East where most of us are living away from family support.
6. Is there anything you would have liked to see done differently? If so, what?
If I remember the second session on breast feeding was a lot to take in, in one session but then bar adding on another week how else would you cover all in two sessions?
7. What's the most important thing people should know about working with me?
People should know that you are very supportive and non-judge mental. Your classes are informative and you take them seriously in a relaxed way.
8. If there anything else you'd like to add?
Just a huge thank you for all you help and support.
